Frequently asked questions
Is the app free?
Yes. Downloading it and using it with any Shiny wall are free, with no subscriptions and no per-user fees. And there are two apps: Shiny Wall for your phone and Shiny Wall Tablet for your gym.
Can I use the app without a Shiny wall?
Yes. You can download it and explore the community's problems without a wall. And to use it on your own wall, with Lasso you digitise it from just a photo (what many call a spray wall) and with Lite you also light up your holds with LEDs.
Which walls does it work with?
With every Shiny: Standard, Standard Max and Custom, and with your own wall if you digitise it with Lite or Lasso. You log in, pick your wall and climb.
Does the app need internet?
Yes, the phone app needs a connection to work; it talks to the wall over Bluetooth. The tablet app holds up without internet, though it needs it now and then to sync new problems.
Can I edit a problem after publishing it?
No. Once published it belongs to the community: others climb it, rate it and propose a grade, so it can't be touched any more. If you're not sure yet, keep it as a draft and publish it when it's ready.
